Black Friday at Walmart

This year for the first time in many years I did go to Walmart for Black Friday. My best girlfriend and I had a plan to head to a local 24hr Walmart. She had some ad matching to do so we got to Walmart at 3:30am. There were already quite a few cars in the parking lot and the Electronics section was already filling up. I personally was not going for any electronics so I was glad about that. We walked the perimeter of the store to figure out where the items were that we wanted. At about 4am we split up. I was mainly going for hoodies and pjs for my girls Christmas.
I found it odd that at 4am the employees started taking the plastic off all of the display cases except electronics items. So everyone was just walking by getting what they wanted an moving on. I do admit that I had a few things in my cart although they were items that were not on display and hadn't been wrapped up with plastic but they were in the ad.
I did managed to get everything I wanted. No pic in case my nosy daughters happen to see.

But I managed to get 7 items each for both of my daughters as well as getting my new niece the Fisher Price Walker t0 Wagon for $10.
I know she is not quite big enough yet but by the time next Christmas rolls around she will be 14months. Besides my sister expressed really wanting this for her. :)
I also got 6 new towels for $1.50 each.

All in all I spent $103 for 15 gifts and 6 towels. Not bad! After I added up all original price tags I saved about as much as I spent. After Walmart we grabbed a breakfast sandwich at McDonalds and headed home. I was home by 8:30am. For me it was worth getting up that early to save $100. As for my friend, she saved $75. So we were both pleased.

Only One Month.....

Blog Pictures | It is really hard to believe that there are only 31 days until Christmas! If you are like me you still have so many things to accomplish. This weekend we will put up our Christmas tree and decorations. The girls can't wait. We will play Christmas music and drink Eggnog.

I truly enjoy the Holidays and more than anything I enjoy giving. I love for my girls to have a wonderful Christmas but we don't spend hundreds of dollars per child. It's just not realistic for us.

My shopping list includes:
My Mom and Step Dad
My Grandma and Grandpa
My Hubby's Dad
13 nieces and nephews
My hubby and my 2 girls

We also try to do some type of donation every year.
Now you can see we don't buy for my sisters and their spouses or my hubby's siblings and spouses. We all decided many years ago when the nieces and nephews started multiplying that we would rather buy for them than each other. I would rather my girls get another present and me not.

Thankfully I have all the nieces and nephews done except my sisters brand new baby girl. (we only spend $10 per gift on the N&N's and trust me I look for clearance). I also have my Step Dad and Grandma done.

On top of the Christmas shopping we have my Step Dad's Birthday the beginning of December, my sister on December 15th, my oldest Daughter on December 16th, one niece on December 17th and yet another niece on December 23rd! Uggh.

I don't have to buy for my sister, niece no #1 will get $20 (what we do for bday's once they are 10 or over)and I have already got niece #2's present. As for my oldest daughter she is turning 13 and I told her that starting this year we will make a tradition and just go shopping together with the amount of money we spend on the girls bdays.

So here is what I have left to do for the month of December:
Step Dad Bday
Take Daughter Bday Shopping
Mom Christmas Present
Grandpa Christmas Present
Hubby Christmas Present
New baby niece Christmas Present
Emeri and Jonah's Christmas (I plan to get a lot done friday morning at WalMart)

As for donating, we already have numerous new toys that I have gotten throughout the year on clearance. Since they don't work for the kids I am shopping for, my girls are going to take them to school to donate for children in need in our town.

How are you doing on your Christmas shopping?? Are you farther along than me??
Next year I really hope to have everything done before December!!

Have you Tried Redbox?

We tried out Redbox for the first time this past weekend. We were in Walmart and figured, why not? It only cost $1 to rent a dvd. You use a debit or credit card to pay and you just need to return to any Redbox by 9pm the next evening. Otherwise you will be charged another $1 until you return it. It was really easy to figure out. We actually rented 2 movies. There are a lot of new movies to choose from.

Here is the best part, on Mondays you can get a free movie. Each and every monday. I got a text earlier from Redbox with a free movie code to use. So this evening I will head to WalMart and get a free movie to watch tonight. Here is the code, anyone can use it. 2MNC92.

For more details on how Redbox works you can go to their website here.

I am so behind! I have been sick for a little over a week now. It started out as flu and then this Wednesday I woke up with serious head congestion. As I am typing this I have a pretty bad sinus headache. On the 14th I started my $100 budget for the week. I first shopped at Kroger where I spent a total of $73.94. After that I went to Walgreens and spent another $1.08 putting my total at. $75.02. Then I went to CVS on the 16th, sadly I do not have a picture this week.

1 Loreal Age Perfect Lotion $15.99 (receive $15.99 Extra Care Bucks)
1 Always Infinity $5.99
CVS Paper Towels $1.99
55cents off Soft & Dri
50cents off Soft & Dri Peelie
$2 off Always Infinity
$2 off Always Infinity CVS CRT
My receipt shows -$17 Extra Care Bucks, I thought I only had $14. hmmm
I paid $8.32 out of pocket and received $19.99 in Extra Care Bucks

I also received several CRT's $2 off St. Ives Product, $1 off Colgate Max Fresh, $6 off any 2 Dove Hand and Body lotion, $3/$15 Facial Skin Care Purchase.

What to do with Tons of Instant Oatmeal?

Well we have an abundance of instant oatmeal right now. Due to coupons and sales I have gotten a lot of delicious flavors for next to nothing.

I will start this off by informing you that I am NOT a morning person. I really hate mornings. I am a night person and no matter how much I have tried to change this schedule it just won't work. So the girls get up at 6am and I get up at 6:30am. Their breakfast is done and over before I crawl out of bed. Now that my girls are a little older, 10 and almost 13 (less than a month). They handle their own breakfast in the morning. They can make bacon and eggs or of course cereal. But I always try to keep things available that are easy. Like homemade waffles and pancakes frozen, all they have to do is reheat.
So I thought maybe I could do something with all that instant oatmeal that would give them a super quick and easy breakfast.

I found a great muffin recipe that called for left over oatmeal. So I figured why couldn't I just use the instant?! My girls, hubby, sister and I have all thoroughly enjoyed these muffins.

Here is what you will need:

1 cup Self Rising Flour
3/4c sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
1 stick butter (melted)
3 packets instant oatmeal
boiling water
3 bowls

In one bowl mix the flour, sugar and baking powder. In another bowl gently whisk the egg and then add in the melted butter. Stir that together. In the third bowl add enough boiling water to the 3 packets of instant oatmeal that it is a thick consistency of oatmeal. Once the oatmeal is mixed well add it to the wet ingredients and stir them until blended. Then add the wet to the dry and mix them well. The batter will be thick.
Grease a muffin pan and add the batter. Cook 15-18 minutes on 350. (mine didn't take quite as long) This will make 1 dozen regular sized muffins.

The last batch I made I used Active Lifestyle Maple Brown Sugar and Pecan and they were delicious. I got this box of oatmeal free using Cellfire!

Cellfire Coupons

I have just recently signed up at Cellfire. The site is free to join and allows you to use digital coupons from your cell phone or PC. When I joined I did enter my cell phone number in order to get my confirmation number. Then I opted out of using my cell phone for other transactions. Information will be sent to my email instead and I can get certain coupons added to my store card.

For instance, I have linked up my Kroger card with Cellfire and I can add coupons directly to the card. So when I get my groceries and they swipe my card the coupons are automatically there. Trust me it does work!

There are also deals for shopping, restaurants and entertainment. You can check out your area to see what discounts are available.

But yesterday after my Cardiologist appointment, my Mom wanted me to stay and have lunch with her. I was in the town she works in and it is about 45 minutes from where I live. So I had about 30 minutes to waste and ran into their Walgreens.

1 Dr Pepper 20oz $1.49

2 $2/1 Renuzit TriScents

Loadable Coupons

Tonight was the night! I finally decided I would try out loadable coupons. I signed up for two different companies. The first one is Cellfire. When you sign up they ask your cellphone number and send you a text with a 5 digit code. The great part is you can opt to get all further correspondence through email. They have coupons for these grocery stores:

City Market
King Soopers

I loaded mine onto my Kroger Store card. I decided to just try one coupon at first. I used the "loadable" 50 cent off 4pk Cottonelle and my 25 cent off(doubled) Cottonelle to get a free 4pk of toilet paper.

I also signed up for Shortcuts, they offer coupons for the same stores as above. Again I loaded a 50 cent of 4pk Cottonelle and used my 25 cent off(doubled) Cottonelle to get a 2nd free 4pk of toilet paper.

Both coupons worked like a charm! Now that I now they work I am going back to load up some more coupons. The beauty is you can you a "loadable" coupon and a Manufacturer coupon on the same item!
